2017 annual report

The Committee progressed on strategic goals during the year as follows.

In Area 1: Build Discipleship: We wrote and conducted an online Bible Study course: Getting Things Done: A Study of Nehemiah as an alternative to a traditional evening group study. This was tested on a small scale (just the committee members) to ensure everything worked. We plan to roll out a church-wide course following the pastorŐs study during Lent. The goal is to increase study availability and participation by eliminating travel to the building, weather concerns, and scheduling conflicts. Participants can take the course at home, and on their own schedules. This will also allow studies to be available to those beyond our parish.

In Area 2: Strengthen the Church Family: We continued our core Sunday School and VBS programs. We are facing a demographic shift in our congregation, with fewer elementary age students. We have a long term goal of separating Sunday School time from worship time to place it in between the two worships, with the goal of having children able to attend an entire worship service (early or 10AM), as well as have an opportunity for adult studies to occur in the same time slot.

In Area 3: Build Identity as Home for the Arts: A Little Free Library project is underway, led by Joshua Miltner as an Eagle scout project. Already the space is allocated and city approved. A bench has been placed, with the library itself to be installed this spring.

The committee thanks you for your support and welcomes your thoughts.
